A Web-Based Educational Simulation Package for Glucose-Insulin Levels in the Human Body

"The simulator does not differentiate between people regarding their sex, age, race, or BMI (body mass index); instead it represents an average person. Also, GlucoSim does not take into account intra- and inter-personal variations and it should not be used for making medical decisions."
The GlucoSim should only be used for educational purposes.

The inputs are:
  • Time of the meal (hhmm): Enter the time for each meal using a 24hr format. (For example 1:30PM should be entered as 1330 and 11:20AM as 1120.)
  • Carbohydrate content of the meal (CHO): Enter the total carbohydrate content of each meal in grams.
  • Body weight: Enter the body weight in pounds or kilograms.
  • Duration of simulation: It is possible to simulate the results for a maximum of 24 hours.

The Type 1 Diabetes Model has the following additional inputs:
  • Time of injection (hhmm): Enter the time of injection times starting from breakfast until snack after dinner.
  • Insulin type and dose: Two types of insulin are available, i.e. Regular (short acting insulin) and Regular with early ultralente (long acting insulin) injection.

  • Anti - Reset Windup: Enable or disable anti - reset windup settings.Help
  • Insulin Route: Choose the insulin delivery route, i.e.Subcutaneous and Intraperitoneal Infusion of insulin. Help
